The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders all held up an American flag that they made during My Country ‘Tis of Thee. The students were very proud to show their respect and honor for our country and our special guests which included members of our military, firemen and policemen. The program was concluded with our favorite song, Proud to Be an American, followed by a moment of silence.

TBEC Congratulations Cookout : The MISD Administrative Council took an opportunity over two days to congratulate Roberta Tipps Elementary and Charlotte Anderson Elementary for being named to the 2008 Honor Roll by the Texas Education and Business Coalition.

TBEC identifies Honor Roll schools by analyzing three years of performance data for ever public school in Texas. A TBEC Honor Roll school must have a high percentage of students meeting state standards on every TAKS test for three consecutive years. That's the easy part; TBEC Honor Roll schools also have the highest percentage of students performing at the state's most rigorous standard -commended- in every subject. The selection criteria also considers the school's demographics, number of subjects tested and grade levels. Compared to other schools with similar demographics, TBEC honor Roll schools have demonstrated the highest levels of academic achievement year after year.
