BBCTA Auto Tech - Bikes for Angels 2008 : The Ben Barber Auto Tech students and staff raised over $21,000 and purchased 425 bicycles in the second annual Bikes for Angels fundraiser. These bicycles will be delivered to campuses where counselors have identified needy students whose parents can then come and get a bicycle for Christmas. The fundraising goal this year was $10,000.

Rick Curlee, Automotive Coordinator, said this of the project, "I have been teaching for 20 years and I have never seen students get as excited as they do for Bikes for Angels. I have had a few of our kids come to me and say that they were angel tree kids when they were younger. We teach many areas in our schools today but I feel one of our most important life skills to teach our kids is the Joy of Giving."

Legacy HS - Do Something Bold : DO SOMETHING BOLD - This is the challenge Mrs. Dena Schimming, Teen Leadership teacher gave her students in the Spring/Fall of 2008.

She challenged them to think about “doing something bold” for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Her challenge included forming a team of students and staff members to walk 60 miles in 3 days! After receiving approval from the administration to go ahead with her idea, students from all walks of life at Legacy decided to try her challenge. Although only 8 students and 4 adult sponsors could actually participate in the walk November 7th – 9th, ALL Legacy students, staff members, families, and community members were involved in the challenge. Over $30,000.00 (you read that right!) was raised by all of our Legacy community. It could not have been done without the support of the administration, theater department, art department, teen leadership classes, STUCO, Mansfield News Mirror, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Mansfield Rotary Clubs, students/families/staff members who bought t-shirts, cookies, pep rally tickets, concert tickets, and dinner tickets and most of all the breast cancer survivors. Congratulations to the walkers Brittany Bayless, Matthew Broomhall, Jake Edwards, Kat Garza, Alli Jones, Taylor Mohler, Dena and Richard Schimming, Stephanie Shackelford, Tyler Terhall, Marshall White, and Kathy Ziesmer who endured 60 miles of walking and lots of blisters!
